DOOKS

DOOKS selected and edited works from the artist’s series, "paper works", made in 2019. This book connects various motifs, such as portraits and animals, by making a flow of turning pages as if watching a film. The book comes in a thin case like a record jacket.

In the exhibition to coincide with the publication, the actual works printed on the book and new works based on those past works are also published. They embody the idea of production beyond time and space, as it is entitled“MONTAGE”, which is an editing method of films.

作家が2019年に制作していたシリーズ作品「paper works」から、DOOKSが作品をセレクトし、編集しました。描かれた人物や動物などの様々なモチーフを、ページをめくるごとに映像を見ているような流れを意識して繋ぎ合わせています。レコードジャケットのような薄手のブックケース入り。

出版に合わせた展覧会では、本に掲載されている実物作品や、それら過去作を元にして作られた新作も同時発表されます。映画の編集技法であるタイトルの『MONTAGE』（モンタージュ）が示すように、時間や空間を自由に超えて制作することを体現しています。
